Remarks

I asked a pop-up IFR clearance to PAO at around 50nm south of AVE VOR since Flight Watch (122.0) said the weather at PAO was getting misty. It turned out that it was not necessary. The Bay Area was slightly foggy but the visibility was good enough for VFR (or MVFR). I asked Visual Approach and did not have any wait to get the approach clearance.

Gordon used SJC as a stepping stone to PAO. He got a pop-up IFR clearance to SJC. He took an ILS approach, executed the missed approach, then asked flight following (VFR) to PAO. Interesting. I wonder how long he had to wait to shoot an ILS approach to SJC.
